Akshay Kumar's upcoming film Prithviraj is facing a lot of backlash. Why, you ask? We all know the controversy related to Jodhaa Akbar and Padmaavaat, and a similar controversy has now surrounded the Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar starrer Prithviraj. Protests broke out in Chandigarh to demand the title change of the upcoming film. Protestors also burnt the effigy of the actor.
As many are aware, Prithviraj will depict the story of King Prithviraj Chauhan. Produced by Yash Raj Films, it stars Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar. The movie has been creating buzz for a long time. The Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha initiated a protest demanding the change of the title of the film. Reportedly, people connected to the organization claim that the film's entire title should be 'Hindu Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan' or 'Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan'.
Protestors are of the view that Prithviraj Chauhan was the last Hindu emperor and in such a scenario, the name of the movie should give full respect to the king. Reportedly, the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha also demanded a special screening of the film to be arranged for the representatives before the film's official release. This will help them know if the movie is controversial or not and more.
Members of Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha, while demonstrating in Sector 45, Chandigarh, said that if the producer-director does not resolve all of the film's concerns, the upcoming film will face the same fate as Jodhaa Akbar and Padmaavat. During this, slogans were shouted loud and an effigy of the film's director, producer and actor were burned. The film is slated to release in November, this year.
